Here is how some major automakers performed during the first month of the new fiscal year.
Maruti Suzuki
India’s leading carmaker sold 163,434 units during the month of April 2018, which accounts to a YoY growth of 14.4 per cent. As usual, the company’s compact cars - which include Swift, Baleno, Ignis, Celerio and Dzire - contributed significantly to its monthly sales, collectively clocking 83,834 units last month.
Reports also suggest that the all-new Swift has been doing exceptionally well for the company since its launch in February 2018, however, we do not have the exact April sales number for the car as yet.
Hyundai
Hyundai moved 46,735 cars in India last month, rising from 44,758 in April 2018. Hyundai saw an overall volume growth of 4.4 per cent with its main vehicles - Grand i10, i20, Verna and Creta accounting for 79 per cent of the total volume. Hyundai’s launched the updated i20 is February this year, and the car has been doing well since then. The Korean company also plans to introduce the Creta facelift in India this year.
